Episode 063 – Limiting Beliefs – Part 1

How much are we holding ourselves back? How many times have you seen something in either health, fitness, nutrition, or work where you’ve said; “I could never do that.” or “I’m not built for that.”. There’s a pretty good chance that significant portion of you have probably uttered our thought either of those phrases or some variation. Have you ever actually taken on the challenge you’ve presented yourself with? It possible that you never actually got started. This is likely due your own limiting beliefs.

In part 1 of a 2 part series, we discuss limiting beliefs and how they be holding you back in meeting or exceeding your health and fitness goals.

  • Define Limiting Beliefs: Limiting beliefs are those which constrain us in some way. Just by believing them, we do not think, do or say the things that they inhibit. And in doing so we impoverish our lives. They are often about ourselves and our self-identity.
  • Genetics  

    • Genetic potential
      • Is there such a thing?
      • Range of improvements vs level of elite world class athletes
    • Could never “look” like that
    • Improvements in body comp, performance or profile is definitely possible in everyone.
    • Talent Born or grown?
  • Exercise

    • “I can’t do that” or “I can’t lift that“ – Athlete perspective example
    • Day 0 vs day 90 or 900
    • Usually not the only issue…
  • Nutrition

    • Poor nutrition is generally the limiting factor.
      • Most impactful factor as well
    • “Cant cook” Example shopping list/small meals/limited ingredients/practice
  • Our own Personal Limited Beliefs? Now or In The Past ?
